Who we are

STABL ("we", "us") is operated by STABL (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in South Africa under registration number 2026/443799/07, with its registered address at Obs Court, 3A Howe Street, Observatory, Cape Town. This policy explains how we handle personal information for our pre-launch waitlist, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

When you join the waitlist we collect the information you give us — your email address (required) and, optionally, your phone number and country. We also automatically record your IP address and browser user-agent at the moment you submit, solely to prevent spam and abuse of the form.

We do not collect identity documents for the waitlist. When you later use the STABL app, your wallet keys are generated and held on your device — they are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Why we collect it, and on what basis

We use your contact details only to notify you about early access and product updates — this is done with your consent, which you give by submitting the form. We process your IP address and user-agent for the legitimate interest of keeping the service secure. Giving us your details is voluntary; without an email address we cannot add you to the waitlist.

Where your data is stored

Waitlist data is held in our database and encrypted in transit (HTTPS); sensitive fields — your email address and phone number — are encrypted at rest. Your information may be stored or processed outside South Africa through our third-party service providers, under contractual safeguards as required by POPIA. By joining the waitlist, you consent to this.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for marketing. We rely on a small number of third-party service providers who process data on our behalf — for example, our hosting and infrastructure providers — under confidentiality obligations.

Cookies

We don't use tracking or analytics cookies. A single essential cookie keeps the waitlist form secure (it protects against cross-site request forgery) — nothing about you is tracked across sites.

How long we keep it

We keep waitlist information until launch and for up to 12 months afterwards, or we delete it within 30 days of a valid deletion request, whichever comes first. We may retain a minimal record of opt-outs where necessary to ensure we do not contact you again.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, object to its processing, or withdraw your consent at any time. To do any of these, email hello@stabl-pay.com and we will action it promptly.

Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your information, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) — inforegulator.org.za. We would appreciate the chance to resolve it directly first.

Non-custodial by design

STABL is non-custodial. We cannot access, move, or freeze your funds. Responsibility for safeguarding your device and recovery material rests with you.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will revise the "last updated" date above when we do.
